Bathroom Plumbing Repair vs Bathroom Plumbing Installation
Bathroom plumbing repair focuses on fixing an existing sink, toilet, faucet, shower, tub, pipe, drain, or valve. Bathroom plumbing installation is needed when adding, replacing, upgrading, or relocating fixtures and plumbing lines.
Bathroom plumbing repair may be suitable when:
- A faucet is dripping
- A toilet is running or leaking
- A pipe beneath the sink is damaged
- A bathroom drain is slow
- A shower valve is not working properly
- A shutoff valve is leaking
- The existing fixture can still be restored
Bathroom plumbing installation may be needed when:
- A new sink is being added
- A toilet needs replacement
- A faucet or tap is being upgraded
- A new shower or bathtub is being installed
- A bathroom fixture is being relocated
- The bathroom layout is changing
- New supply or drainage lines are required
- A basement bathroom is being developed
Repair is normally suitable when an existing bathroom fixture or plumbing component can be restored. Installation is needed when adding, replacing, upgrading, or relocating a sink, toilet, faucet, shower, bathtub, pipe, or drain.

Mike went above and beyond when my sump pump stopped working during the heavy rains we've been getting in Edmonton. He walked me through how to safely test it over the phone late at night, gave me a practical tip to keep the water away from the walls until morning, and even tracked down a replacement pump during a city-wide shortage. First thing in the morning he was at my door and had it sorted. This is the kind of tradesperson you want on speed dial, honest, calm under pressure, and genuinely helpful even before the job starts. Highly recommend.Posted on Google Keba MillsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mike at Family Wise Plumbing in short was great. I had an urgent need and he showed up promptly and resolved the issue. He even took the time to walk me through some know how in terms of plumbing. I will be keeping his info for future needs and would recommend to anyone who asks. Price was also great. Thank you Mike.Posted on Google pall98Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Mike was great, super nice guy, came on short notice and was very knowledgeable and honest. Family Wise Plumbing and Drain Cleaning repaired a leak on the outside water tap and a leak in the cold water line in the basement. Mike was friendly, professional and gave us the best price possible. The repair was done promptly and efficently. Mike even helped set up and install a water timer I had purchased. The cost was very reasonable compared to quotes from other companies. We would definitely recommend Mike for your future plumbing and drain issues.Posted on Google ed jTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a fantastic experience with Mike from Family Wise Plumbing, and would highly recommend him for any of your plumbing needs. My sewer mainline was backed up, and after I had no success trying to auger it myself I called Mike for help. He was super friendly while asking questions regarding my issue and very accommodating with scheduling an appointment. Mike showed up on time and got right to work; but not before taking a quick look at the work area, helping me clear out some items obstructing access, assisting with cleaning up some water that had flooded the washroom, and even giving my girlfriend a hand sweeping snow off her vehicle. Mike went to town augering the sewer line, all while explaining to me the possible causes for a back-up and potential ways to remediate any issues. He answered all the questions I had and even offered advice for solving any possible plumbing snags with things he spotted in the basement that weren't even related to the task at hand. Mike was always updating me when/why he would switch auger heads, and when he felt he had dislodged the potential blockage. He was very respectful of me, my home, and my pets while he worked; taking care to prevent any damage and clean up as he worked. Mike got my sewer line flowing again, and after making sure it was functioning properly he charged me exactly what was quoted. No silly fees or attempts to upsell me at all. If you require a friendly, diligent, and honest plumber look no further and give Family Wise a call. I am extremely happy with the service provided, and I am confident you will be too. Thank you so much for everything Mike! (If anybody asks please tell them I at least loosened the blockage for you with my failed attempt.)Posted on Google Drey PTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I found Mike on kijiji and I couldn't be more happy. He has to be one of the most genuine and friendly guys i have ever met. My cats loved him and probably held up the job getting in the way. When it came to the job he was extremely knowledgeable and skillful in everything he did. Our house was build in the late 60s and some of the plumbing is not the best but he fixed all the issues the came up. I now have a plumber that I will call for anything and everything. He is not like the huge plumbing outfits and you will not regret using him for any job.Posted on Google Melissa SteinkeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Early January I had a leak in my water line from my humidifier and this happened at 11:30 at night when I noticed . Not fun. I don’t have a regular plumbing place either. I haven’t found one reliable or reasonable or where they don’t try to sell me a membership I don’t want. I tried calling a few companies at midnight but had to leave messages or was told they weren’t sure when someone would come so I decided to watch it all night with a bucket under and call first thing in morning to someone for help at 7 am when places opened. One place said they could come the next day. It couldn’t wait that long. I found out later I was talking to an AI voice and not a human at another place. When you have a water leak and have no idea about plumbing that could cause major damage and insurance might have to get involved you need someone urgent not the next day ! Finally I saw Family Wise online and I called but had to leave a message. This was after calling 3 others. To my surprise the owner Mike called back right away and said he could come at 11:30. He found where the leak was and fixed it and his charge was very reasonable compared to others . He even looked at my one toilet and fixed my faucets in another bathroom . He went over and above for the price he charged with no upfront cost just to come out like others do. He was very polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend him.

FAQs About Bathroom Plumbing in Edmonton
What bathroom plumbing services do you provide?
Family Wise Plumbing can help with bathroom sinks, toilets, faucets, showers, bathtubs, drains, supply pipes, shutoff valves, fixture connections, leaks, repairs, replacements, and new plumbing installations.
Why is my bathroom sink draining slowly?
A slow bathroom sink may be caused by hair, soap residue, toothpaste, sludge, or another obstruction inside the drain or trap. A deeper blockage may be located farther along the bathroom drainage line.
Why is water leaking around the base of my toilet?
Water around a toilet base may be caused by a failed seal, loose connection, damaged toilet, leaking supply line, condensation, or another nearby plumbing problem. The source should be identified before floor damage develops.
Why does my toilet keep running?
A running toilet may have a worn flapper, faulty fill valve, incorrect water level, damaged seal, or another internal component problem. Continuous running can waste a significant amount of water.
Can you repair a leaking shower faucet?
Yes. A dripping shower may be caused by a worn cartridge, damaged seal, faulty valve, loose connection, or deteriorated fixture component. The shower plumbing should be inspected to determine the appropriate repair.
Why is my shower pressure low?
Low shower pressure may result from a blocked showerhead, faulty valve, pipe buildup, partially closed shutoff, damaged supply line, or a wider water-pressure problem.
Can a plumber install new bathroom fixtures?
Yes. A plumber can help install or connect sinks, faucets, toilets, showers, bathtubs, shutoff valves, supply lines, and drainage components. The existing plumbing should be inspected before installation.
Should I call a plumber during a bathroom renovation?
Yes. A plumber should review fixture locations, drainage paths, water-supply lines, pipe sizing, venting needs, shutoff valves, and connections before walls, flooring, or cabinets are completed.
