Plumbing FAQs

Straight answers to the plumbing questions we hear most often in Edmonton.

Drain Cleaning FAQs

How often should I have my drains cleaned?
Most Edmonton homes benefit from a professional drain cleaning every 18 to 24 months. Homes with mature trees, older pipes, or heavy cooking use may want a yearly inspection so small buildup does not turn into a full backup.
Most chemical cleaners only clear a small path through a clog, and they can damage older Edmonton pipes and pipe joints. A professional drain cleaning is safer, more thorough, and usually cheaper in the long run.
A single fixture drain cleaning typically takes 45 to 90 minutes. Main line clogs or jobs that need camera inspection can take longer. We share a time estimate on arrival before any work starts.

Sewer Repair FAQs

How do I know if my sewer line is damaged?
Recurring main line backups, sewer smells in the yard, wet or sunken spots along the sewer route, and multiple fixtures backing up at once are all classic signs. A camera inspection is the fastest way to confirm.
Not always. Depending on the damage, we may be able to spot-repair one section instead of replacing the full line. We always recommend the least invasive option that will actually solve the problem.
Cost depends on depth, length, and access. We give you a clear written quote after a camera inspection so you know exactly what the job involves before agreeing to any work.

Emergency Plumbing FAQs

What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Any active water damage, sewage exposure, or loss of essential service is an emergency — burst pipes, sewer backups, major leaks, overflowing toilets, and no hot water in freezing weather all qualify.
Our current service hours are 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, and we prioritize emergency calls within those hours. Reach out and we will help as quickly as possible.
Shut off the main water valve for leaks. Stop using drains during sewer backups. Move valuables away from water and unplug anything electrical in the affected area.

Hydro Jetting FAQs

Is hydro jetting better than snaking?
For grease, roots, and repeat clogs, yes. Snaking punches a hole through a clog while jetting scrubs the whole pipe wall. Jetting results usually last much longer on problem lines.
Not when done properly. We camera every line first to confirm it is structurally sound. If the pipe is cracked or deteriorated, we recommend repair or replacement instead of jetting.
For a typical Edmonton home with mature trees, a hydro jetting every 2 to 3 years is a good preventive schedule. Restaurants and busy commercial kitchens often benefit from jetting every 6 to 12 months.

Hot Water Tank FAQs

How long do hot water tanks last?
Most standard tanks last 8 to 12 years in Alberta. Water quality, sediment buildup, and how often the anode rod is checked all affect lifespan. Tanks over 10 years old are worth watching closely.
If the tank body is leaking, replacement is the only real answer. If the failure is a thermocouple, element, or gas valve on a younger tank, a repair often makes good sense.
We install tankless units where suitable. Not every home has the right gas supply or venting for tankless, so we assess first and recommend it only when it actually fits.

Leak Detection FAQs

How do you find a hidden leak without breaking walls?
We use acoustic leak detection, moisture meters, and pressure testing to isolate the leak location before opening any drywall. That keeps repair costs down.
A water bill that jumps with no clear cause, a running water meter with all fixtures off, damp spots, musty smells, or warped flooring are all common signs of a hidden leak.
Both. Once we locate the leak, we complete the repair, pressure test the line, and clean the area so you do not have to coordinate multiple trades.

Service Area FAQs

Which areas do you serve?
Edmonton, Sherwood Park, St. Albert, Leduc, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Beaumont, and Fort Saskatchewan. Reach out even if you are just outside — we may still be able to help.
For most of our regular service area, no. If a job is at the edge of our range, we let you know before booking so there are no surprises.
Same-day service is available across the Capital Region whenever the schedule allows. Call early in the day at (780) 257-2846 for the best chance at a same-day visit.
